Vessa is operated by Seven Talons LLC (“we”, “us”), the data controller responsible for this app. This policy applies to the Vessa mobile app for Android phones and its companion app for Wear OS smartwatches (“Vessa”, “the app”). It explains what happens to your information when you use Vessa. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at tmolina@seventalons.com.
When you use Vessa, you may enter workouts, sleep logs, meals and nutrition data, body measurements, step counts (entered by you or, if you turn it on, counted automatically by your phone’s step sensor), and goals/settings. All of this is stored only in the app's local storage on your own device. It is never uploaded to us or to any third party, because Vessa has no server to upload it to.
The advertising network Vessa uses is Google AdMob. Vessa displays a banner ad at the bottom of the screen. To serve, measure, and analyze these ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect and use your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers, approximate (coarse) location, app-usage data, and crash logs and performance/diagnostic data, for advertising and analytics, and may share them with advertising partners. Ads may be targeted using non-sensitive signals such as general demographics, app-usage frequency, or approximate location.
We never use your health or fitness data (such as weight, caloric intake, sleep, or workouts) to target or personalize ads. That data stays on your device and is never sent to AdMob or any advertiser. Google's handling of ad data is governed by its own policies: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Google Privacy Policy.
Consent (EEA, UK, and certain US states): Vessa integrates Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), a Consent Management Platform, to show a consent pop-up so you can opt in or out of personalized tracking before personalized ads are served. This is presented where required — in the EEA, the UK, and certain US states.
Legal basis (GDPR / UK GDPR): Our legal basis for processing ad-related data is your consent, given or declined through the consent form above; you can change your choice at any time. We do not rely on any other basis for advertising data.
International transfers: Ad-related data is processed by Google and may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States and other countries. Those transfers are covered by Google's own safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses); see Google's policies linked above.
Removing ads: You can permanently remove all ads with a one-time in-app purchase (Settings → Remove ads). The purchase is processed by Google Play Billing; Vessa never receives or stores your payment details.
If you install the Vessa watch app, your health data is sent directly from your phone to your paired watch over Bluetooth using Google's on-device Wearable Data Layer. This transfer happens locally between your own two devices and is never routed through any external server. Ads do not run on the watch.
Apart from the Google services above (AdMob for ads, the UMP consent SDK, and Google Play Billing for the remove-ads purchase), Vessa contains no other third-party components — no first-party analytics, no crash/error reporting, no social media SDKs, and no data brokers.
For users in the EU/EEA and the UK, the rights above (access, portability, and erasure of your health data under the GDPR / UK GDPR) are satisfied directly by these in-app controls, since that data is held only on your device. For ad-related data collected by Google, you control it through the EEA/UK consent form, your advertising-ID controls in Android settings, and Google's own privacy tools.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your data has been handled improperly.
Vessa is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable), and is not intended for them. Because Vessa shows ads, it is aimed at a 13+ audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. This is consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the GDPR's provisions on children's data.
Your health data is retained on your device for as long as you keep it there; we never receive it. Clearing the data or uninstalling the app ends that retention. Ad-related data collected by Google is retained according to Google's policies, not ours.
If this policy changes, the version number and “Last updated” date at the top will change.
